Two Day Symposium on “Promoting Research Trends

The second session of a two day symposium on “Promoting Research Trends: A Paradigmatic Approach towards Postcolonial Studies” was held today, organized by the department of English GCWUF. The chief guest of the event was Prof. Dr. Robina Farooq, vice chancellor GCWUF and the focal person was Ms. Fauzia Amin, lecturer of English GCWUF. Dr. Ali Usman, assistant professor of English, GCUF was invited as guest speaker to share his experienced scholarship with the students. The session started with the presentation of a documentary put together by the students of 7th A English department, called: The Causes and Consequences of Colonization in Africa and Asia. The students tried to encapsulate the gist of Africa and Asia in their pre-colonial journey through de-colonization and finally towards post-colonialism. An article entitled The Myth of Civilization was presented by a student of 7th A English department, which unveiled the true concept of White Man’s Burden. Ms. Fauzia Amin, the supervisor of the event gave a lecture on “The Contextualization of the Dynamics of Hybridity in Post-colonialism”. It enlightened the audience about the perspectives of different researchers and the dilemma of hybridity. The honored guest speaker Dr. Ali Usman gave an intricately informative lecture on A Paradigmatic Approach to Post-colonialism. He captivated the audience with his eloquence and scholarship, while making them realize that the essence of one’s true identity actually lies in his/her ethnicity. Souvenirs were presented to the chief guest Dr. Robina Farooq, the guest speaker Dr. Ali Usman, the chairperson of English department Madam Rahat Afza , along with Ms. Fauzia Amin the focal person of the event. Both the students and the faculty felt enlightened and motivated by the efforts and the hard work put behind the symposium. Overall, it was an informative and inspiring session.
