The mission of the Department of Home Economics is to prepare professionals who help to promote a better quality of life for individuals and families, enhancing the interrelationships of people and communities in diverse social, economic and physical environments. For graduates who wish further specialization, the curriculum prepares them for advanced training or degrees such as Masters of Science degree in Food & Nutrition, Textiles and Clothing, Human Development and Family Studies, Gender Studies and PhD Food & Nutrition.
A complimentary mission of the department is to provide individual with the skill program certificate courses to fulfill curricular needs of students, as well as professionals and non-professionals in the region. These programs improve the quality of life for the individuals and families in the region through public service and research.
