Government College Women University organized two weeks course to strengthening of LIS professionals and MLIS students: Library automation by using koha.
Course coordinator is Mr. Mushtaq Ahmed and librarian, GCWUF , Misbah Bashir.
While addressing the inaugural ceremony, Vice Chancellor Government College Women University Prof. Dr. Robina Farooq said that Library automation systems are workhorse applications that support the complex tasks of acquiring, describing, and providing access to materials and services. Academic libraries have distinct needs for technology support, given the high promotion of electronic resources. Further she said that the need for effective management of electronic resources has proven to be the major driver of change in the education system of current century.
She appreciated the efforts of Ms. Misbah Bashir and her team for always seeking new tools and resources and providing updated information services to students, researchers and faculty.
On this occasion, librarian, GCWUF Ms. Misbah Bashir said the course will strive to improve technical and technological skill of librarians thereby equipping them to run library operation s and provide library services according to international standards.
Upon completion of this course the participants will be able to customize and launch the software in their respective organizations.
