Library Friends Club Govt. College Women University Faisalabad in collaboration with the Directorate of Student Affairs organized a Book Review competition among the students of GCWUF on the directions of reading Pakistan Trust on May 26, 2022, at 11 am in Video Conference Room. Library Incharge Ms. Misbah hosted the competition. She told the participants that the concept of falling in love with books as per interest and the manifestation of it through review writing is something Pakistan badly needs at this stage. Realizing its essence and vitality of it “Library Friends Club: To Encourage and Promote Reading and Writing Culture” has been established by the Main Library of GC Women University Faisalabad. Dr. Zill-e-Huma Nazli, Director of Academics GCWUF, was the Chief Guest at the Book Review Competition. She emphasized the book-reading culture which may help Pakistan overcome the sociopolitical challenges through the enlightenment of the youth. He added that we must redouble our efforts to promote the book, along with all forms of reading and writing, in order to fight illiteracy, build a sustainable society and strengthen the foundations of peace. Director Student Affairs Mrs. Asma Aziz introduced Read Pakistan Trust and shared details about its MOU with GC Women University Faisalabad. She briefed participants regarding the SOPs of the Book Review Competition. The judges of the competition were Dr. Sadaf Naqvi (Incharge department of Urdu) and Ms Saira Akhter (Incharge department of English). Coordinator of Arts & Social Sciences Dr. Syeda Samina Tahira, Director IT Mr. Tariq Shahzad, the Treasurer. Mr. Muhammad Ansar and students of different departments were present on the occasion. The Urdu department especially showed more excitement in membership of Library Friends Club GC Women University Faisalabad.
